Why Early Speech Support Matters in Pakenham
Pakenham is a rapidly expanding residential area within the Shire of Cardinia, with many families settling into new estates and enrolling children in local kindergartens and primary schools. Communication development is one of the most common areas where young children require additional support. National data indicates that close to 20% of children enter school with communication skills below expected levels, around 1 in 10 experience speech sound difficulties, and early language delays are identified in approximately 15% of preschool-aged children. When intervention begins early, children are more likely to keep pace with classroom learning, strengthen literacy foundations and develop greater social confidence.

Results Speak for Themselves!
The team at Expansive has been incredible in supporting our son's speech and language development. The Speech Pathologist took the time to understand our son's challenges and engaged him in a child-led way that encouraged learning through play.
The assessment process was thorough, professional, and delivered with warmth and care. The team implemented an evidence-based program thoughtfully designed to enhance our son's expressive language skills, and we’ve already seen noticeable improvements in his communication skills. The results truly speak for themselves.
We highly recommend the team at Expansive for their expert, engaging, friendly, and warm approach to speech pathology services!
Phuong
As parents, we tried to encourage our kid to speak and even roped in their educators but were largely unsuccessful as they were resistant and unwilling despite our best efforts. We reached out to Pauline for an initial discussion around our concerns and started speech sessions, initially weekly, then fortnightly, before reducing sessions to monthly due to the progress that our kids' made. We would like to thank Pauline and especially her team member, Jiaying, who has made a huge difference to our lives. Jiaying was patient, endearing and made learning unassumingly effortless and fun. Jiaying was very much well-loved by our kiddo, who often asks when she is coming to our home. Pauline was readily available to answer any questions we had. Our kid can now access and use alot more words and has also transformed into a much more confident speaker who even volunteers to sing and dance along in front of a crowd. Even the educators were amazed by their growth. BIG THANK YOUU team, we really appreciate the help and support that was provided every step of the way^^

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my child may benefit from speech therapy?
Children may benefit from speech therapy if they have difficulty being understood, struggle to follow instructions, or find it hard to express their thoughts clearly. If you have concerns about your child’s communication development, a speech pathologist can help assess their needs.
Are therapy activities designed to be engaging for children?
Yes. Speech therapy sessions often use play-based and interactive activities to help children practise communication skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Do you support children with both speech and language difficulties?
Yes. Speech pathologists support children with a range of communication needs, including speech sound development, language understanding, sentence formation, and social communication.
Can speech therapy help with confidence in communication?
Yes. Developing clearer speech and stronger language skills can help children feel more confident when speaking with teachers, classmates, and family members.
What should parents expect during their child’s first session?
The first session may involve getting to know your child, observing how they communicate, and discussing any concerns with parents or caregivers. This helps the speech pathologist understand how to support your child in the best way.
How can families get in touch with Grow For It?
